Suit alleges Foreign Seaman Cheated Out of Wages by New Jersey Company

Mar 12, 2004 - Law Firm News - by Dodson & Hooks, APLC

Jerry Dodson, along with New York Attorney, Ralph J. Mellusi, brought a class action lawsuit for unpaid wages of 209 foreign seaman who were illegally employed on board United States flagged vessels in violation of the Jones Act. Despite strenuous defense objections, a Federal Judge in Brooklyn granted class certification to the Polish and Filipino seamen finding that the putative class members claims rely on common legal theories arising from a common nucleus of facts. This case received national attention when Mark Fass published an article on May 31, 2007 in the New York Law Journal.
